Winter Foot Care

Have you been dreaming of summer lately? Sunscreen, tank tops, beach days, and pedicures? Well, I can’t improve the weather, but a pedicure might improve your winter blues. Plus, there are many other reasons why pedicures are great to manage your foot health all year round—not just in the summer.

Of course we love to make your toenails look fantastic, and it makes a lot of sense that pedicures are often done for looks, but as you might know, pedicures are more than just pretty toes. Toe polish is just the end step in a process that is not only relaxing but also beneficial to your overall foot health.

First, pedicures provide hydration. I don’t know about you, but in the winter my skin is at its most dry. Dry skin can lead to cracks and become painful quickly, especially in places like the feet that are constantly rubbing on socks and shoes. Summer is not the only time your skin needs to be hydrated, and pedicures in the winter are a great way to keep your feet moisturized. If there is dryness and cracking, pedicures help to calm, soothe, and prevent further issues.

You might know that there are many steps of the pedicure process, and many people have claimed this as their favourite: the massage. The massage portion of the pedicure is relaxing, and I can see why it’s a favourite, but that is not its only purpose. The massage also improves circulation. Improved circulation is good for your overall body health and can improve energy levels and nutrient delivery.

During a pedicure, there is, of course, also a focus on your toenails. Keeping a consistent nail care routine (including your toes!) provides many benefits. One positive is that if you ignore your feet for months, the first time you return to them, there is going to be a buildup of dead or cracked skin that is more difficult to remove, but if you maintain a foot care routine year-round, it removes that concern. Additionally, having a routine is beneficial for early ingrown toenail detection. The earlier in-grown toenails are removed, the better. Also, consistent nail trimming helps prevent nails from becoming too thick or brittle.

On a final note, pedicures can also be a calming self-care moment. We have our ‘deluxe pedicures’ that provide an even more relaxing experience. With extra massage and hot towels that will warm up your frozen toes. Pedicures can be a time to look after yourself, relax, and improve your overall foot health!

That’s all for now, we hope to see you in for a pedi soon!
